On the occasion of one of the most important music and cultural events in the region – the Golden Strings of Slavonia Festival – the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega presented its new, special wine: Dolce Aurea.
This is an academic wine produced within the Faculty’s teaching base, under the brand Academic Wines of the Golden Valley. It represents a fusion of scientific expertise, the region’s rich winemaking tradition, and top-level enogastronomy.

Academic Wines are crafted in a modernly equipped wine cellar, tasting room, and vineyards on the southern slopes of Papuk, near the village of Podgorje in the Kutjevo wine-growing region. Here, students, researchers, and professionals create wines that have already been recognized and awarded at both national and European competitions, particularly in categories of food and wine pairing, as well as in business planning within the study programs of Tourism, Enogastronomy, E-business and Software Engineering, and Accounting.
“The wine Dolce Aurea symbolizes everything our academic viticulture and enogastronomy stand for – innovation, tradition, and excellence,” emphasizes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berislav Andrlić, Vice Dean for Development and Business at the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega.

Dolce Aurea Label – A synergy of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay
"The new Dolce Aurea wine is the result of blending Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. This semi-sweet cuvée comes in an elegant yellow hue, with pronounced fresh aromas and a refined, clean bouquet. Its taste is full, creamy, and perfectly balanced, making it an ideal choice alongside desserts, cheeses, and fresh fruit", highlights Ivan Malčić, M.Sc. Agr., head of the wine cellar in Podgorje.
The label design is inspired by the famous Rudine Heads – medieval stone corbels carved with human figures, today preserved at the Požega City Museum – further linking the wine with local heritage and identity.

Wine with an Academic Signature
All wines are produced under the umbrella of the spin-off company Vinum Academicum d.o.o., established within the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega. This represents a modern approach to connecting universities with the market. The portfolio includes numerous varieties: Graševina, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more – creating a diverse palette for true wine and gastronomy enthusiasts.
The new Dolce Aurea label is available at the Academic Wines of the Golden Valley wine shop, Cehovska 1, Požega. Cheers!
