Wine&Walk in Međimurje

Međimurje, the green gem in the north of Croatia, will this autumn host the very first Wine&Walk event, taking place on October 25, 2025, in the heart of the gentle hills surrounding Štrigova.

“Wine&Walk is not just another wine event; it is a true walk through the history and spirit of Međimurje, where tradition meets modernity, the aromas of local cuisine intertwine with the sounds of the famous Međimurje popevka folk song. This music remains a living symbol of identity, included on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage, further enriching this unforgettable experience,” said Zvjezdana and Kristijan Kovačić, organizers of the event, at the project’s presentation in Zagreb’s restaurant Tajer. The event is supported by the Međimurje County Tourist Board.

The route awaiting wine lovers—especially fans of Pušipel, the region’s indigenous wine that recently gained its first World Pušipel Center in Štrigova—stretches 12 kilometers. The beautiful path leads visitors through nine wine stops, where representatives of nine renowned wineries from the region present their wines—from the signature Pušipel to sparkling wines, premium vintages, and special selections crafted by dedicated winemakers. Each sip along the way unveils the terroir of the Međimurje hills, producing wines of unique notes and unmistakable character.

“Hosts at the World Pušipel Center, located in the Štrigova Cultural Center, will warmly welcome all wine lovers. In addition to wine delights, visitors can enjoy a variety of traditional gastronomic dishes perfectly paired with the wines. At several points along the route, musical performances will take place, offering different interpretations of the Međimurje popevka folk songs and adding another layer of enjoyment through top-notch performances. As you can see, autumn in Međimurje will be truly special,” said Rudi Grula, director of the Međimurje County Tourist Board, adding that the Wine&Walk event will also feature a tasting of Young Wine—the first drops of this year’s harvest.
